Duplicate files can be found by any combination of the same name, size and/or Cyclic Redundancy Checksum (CRC). There is no need to compare each file byte by byte
The CRC is used by many programs to check for identical files – such as WinZip.

The CRC allows you to:
- Compare two files on two computers that are not connected by a network.
- Keep a history of a file to check if it has been modified.
- Check for duplicate directories.
